Commission prices updated

  • Reading: The Codex Alera series by Jim Butcher (SO GOOD)
  • Playing: Warhammer Online (WAAAGH!)
  • Drinking: Tea
Hey all!

I've updated my price list for commissions - I'm going to try and take a little time tonight to draw samples for each category, and I'll update the post accordingly once that's done. In the meantime, you can see the prices here. Any questions or interest can be aimed at me via commenting here, sending me a note, or emailing me at sadlittlehil at gmail dot com. :)

I dropped off an application for a gig waiting tables at our corner restaurant today. Their WAITSTAFF WANTED sign has been up for at least three weeks, so I'm hopeful that I can land my first job with them. It's insanely overdue.

Between commissions and hopeful gainful employment, there are three things that I intend to save up money for. In no particular order, they are

A new computer monitor (this one is dying)
A Nikon D50 or D70 camera (I've always wanted to get into photography
A Vespa LX (in the happiest shade of yellow possible)

This will also necessitate getting a motorcycle driver's license. I think I can do it. 900 miles on $50 gas is certainly worth the effort.

Should I keep a running tally on how close to the needed $3300(ish) I am for the Vespa? Maybe make a nice SUPPORT PROJECT SCOOTERGATE banner or something?

yes i know i am a dork did you not see that i am trying to purchase a vespa gosh

...aaand we're back

Technically, we've been back since the 8th, but shh.

Our trip was fantastic, largely due to Cory's family being the most wonderful, generous people in the history of ever, and now we're home again. We have the place to ourselves for a few days yet, as my folks are out of town - it's been us and the beasties, and the quiet has been amaaaazing. I don't want it to go away.

Once we got home, I picked up Rock Band 2 - just the game for now - and am adoring it. We also grabbed The Force Unleashed, which has my brain back on a Star Wars kick again, something that will NOT be helped by the Clone Wars premiere on Cartoon Network at the end of the month (EEEEEEE). We've also both jumped over to play Warhammer, which... well. It's fun enough that I, a career carebear, am leveling my engineer almost entirely in PvP scenarios.

Yeah. I'm even more confused by this than you are, believe me. It's awesome. (I can't wait until I get the proper power trained to set up my EEEEERECTIN' A DISPENSERRRR macro. :D) Anybody else playing Order on Skull Throne?

Meanwhile, I'm trying to figure out my new price list's organization so that I can edit up my original post to be a little more profitabSTANDARDIZED, and I'm going to try to draw up a few things specifically as "samples" to go with it. I just... need to know what I'm doing samples of first. And it's 8am. And I haven't slept yet. So. Um. Don't wait up.

ps iron man 2-disc dvd is coming out soon omg omg omg omg omg omg squeeeeeee

VACATIONNNN~~~

I haven't had an honest to god leave-town vacation since 2002 - but now, thanks to Cory's family being freakin' fantastic, we're being flown out to San Jose for three (3) weeks. THANK YOU YOU GUYS SERIOUSLY.

So, from August 15th to September 8th, I will be entirely incommunicado. In the meantime, though, the Commission Sale is still on-going.

When I get back, I'm going to revise my price list. I think that in its current state, it may simply be too vague for a lot of folks, and the more frequently commissioned artists that I see around here organize their prices differently (headshots, busts and full-body instead of sketches, inks and color). Given how hard up we are for money, I'm going to see if adjusting this helps at all, and try to gnaw my way through artist's block.

In the meantime, I'm super excited over Cryptic's Star Trek Online announcement, and the upcoming footage from it and Champions this convention season. Gonna be sweeeeet.

Time to go brush my teeth!

Commission Sale & Rock Band

  • Watching: MST3K: The Movie (again)
  • Playing: Rock Band, EVE Online
Rock Band has got to be the most enjoyable game I've played in YEARS. :headbang: The fact that every time Wanted, Dead or Alive comes up, I crave Alaskan King Crab somehow just makes it even better. (And you would not BELIEVE how reliably Cory and I hit notes in unison in that song. THANK YOU CAPTAIN SIG)

Due to limited fundage, however, we were unable to pick up the drum set, and this gives me rage. So, naturally, it's commission sale time!

Rather than saving up for the drums, however, we're now shooting for the full-on sexiness that is the Rock Band 2 bundle... so we've got a ways to go.

From now until... whenever I feel like it, I'm slashing my prices as follows:

Postcards - $5. A simple drawing drawn on a 4"x6" postcard, optionally mailed directly to you once the artwork is done. Postage is included in the $5 pricetag.

Single Character Sketch (DIGITAL) - $10, $5 for each additional character.

Single Character Sketch (REAL MEDIA) - $15, $5 for each additional character.

Single Character Inked (DIGITAL) - $20, $5 for each additional character.

Single Character Inked (REAL MEDIA) - $25, $5 for each additional character.

Single Character Color (DIGITAL) - $30, $10 for each additional character.

Single Character Color (REAL MEDIA) - $35, $10 for each additional character. These will be colored pencil pieces.

As y'all know, I suck something awful at backgrounds, but if you really really want one, we'll talk.

Paypal is preferred. If you're interested or have any questions, please note me here, or contact me at sadlittlehil(at)gmail(dot)com.

Commissions are OPEN.

Hey gang!

In addition to my regular commissions, I am pleased to announce that my box o' postcards has arrived - so now I'm taking commissions for them as well!

For $10, I will do a quick drawing of the character of your choice on a 4"x6" Strathmore watercolor postcard, and - given your address - drop it into the mailbox to be sent directly to you.

As always, Paypal is preferred, but we can work out alternate methods o' payment easily enough. :)

If you're interested, just drop me a note, or email me at sadlittlehil(at)gmail(dot)com. Make sure you say something about commissions in the subject line!
